An athlete is being considered for a campaign. Can someone on your team find the current agreement, confirm her availability and explain whether the last activation worked? Those answers tell you more about how the programme operates than the size of the roster.
This five-stage framework from athleteXhub helps teams review specific processes and decide what to improve next.
Five stages of programme maturity
1. Reactive
Enquiries are answered when someone has time. Selection decisions and commitments live with individuals. Start with a shared record of each partnership, its owner and the next decision.
2. Organised
There are selection criteria and an onboarding routine, though much of the work is still manual. Identify the information staff repeatedly chase and collect it once at intake.
3. Repeatable
Briefs, approvals and feedback follow a shared process. Colleagues can take over work and see what remains open. Give each role its own expectations. A local running group will need a different brief from an athlete involved in a product launch.
4. Strategic
Before the season, define the outcome each partnership should support. Renewal decisions draw on recorded results and their context. For an event appearance, attendance and participant feedback may be useful. A sales objective calls for orders you can reasonably attribute.
5. Learning
Results from the season inform future selection criteria, briefs and budgets. Automated reminders or recommendations can help when the data is dependable and someone reviews exceptions. For each new metric, ask which decision it will improve.
Review one partnership at your next team meeting
- Which criteria led to selection?
- Who could take over the relationship today?
- Which deliverables are complete and which are due?
- What measure corresponds to the original goal?
- What will the results change in your next brief?
Score each process separately. A team may have repeatable briefs and still assemble reports from scratch. Start with the gap that is holding up a real decision.
