Hofer Backyard Ultra - When the Hofer Backyard Ultra starts on the weekend (27 June 2026), it will be a special event for us at athleteXhub. Not only because we are represented as a sponsor on site for the first time, but also because co-founder Julian will be at the starting line himself.
For him, the competition is much more than just another run in the calendar. Hof is his hometown. Many of his sporting roots are here. All the more beautiful is the fact that athleteXhub will be visibly part of an event here for the first time.
A special competition for Julian
The past few months at athleteXhub have been mainly marked by building the platform. Between product development, conversations with athletes, and building new partnerships, there is often little time for personal sporting ambitions.
The Hofer Backyard Ultra now offers the opportunity to switch back to sports mode more strongly. Julian will start as a participant and, together with Jasper (co-founder), represent athleteXhub at the event.
What makes the Hofer Backyard Ultra so special?
Backyard Ultras are among the most exceptional running events of all. Instead of a fixed distance, participants complete round after round. A new round starts every hour. Anyone who does not complete the round on time or does not start again is eliminated.
In the end, only one runner remains.
It is precisely this mix of endurance, mental strength, and community that has made Backyard Ultras increasingly popular in recent years. The Hofer Backyard Ultra has also made a name for itself in the region and attracts athletes from different areas of endurance sports.
athleteXhub represented as a sponsor for the first time
The fact that athleteXhub is a sponsor this year came about in a very natural way.
In exchange with the organiser, it quickly became clear that the idea behind athleteXhub fits well with the character of the event. Bringing people together, making athletes visible, and creating new connections - that's what events like the Hofer Backyard Ultra are all about.
That's why we're particularly pleased that athleteXhub will be present on site and be part of the event.
More than just a competition
Besides the race itself, we're looking forward to the encounters around the event.
Both founders will be on site. While Julian is on the track, Jasper will support him as part of his personal support team. At the same time, the event offers the opportunity to get to know new athletes, deepen existing contacts, and exchange ideas with other brands and partners.
It's precisely these conversations and encounters that often make events like the Hofer Backyard Ultra so special.
We're looking forward to Hof
For athleteXhub, the Hofer Backyard Ultra is a small but important chapter in our journey so far.
A competition in Julian's hometown. The first event where athleteXhub is visibly represented as a sponsor. And another opportunity to get to know people from the endurance community in person.
We're looking forward to a sporting weekend in Hof and are excited to see what stories this event will write.
Recap: The weekend at the Hofer Backyard Ultra
What a weekend. The anticipation quickly turned into a real community event with many conversations, exciting encounters, and of course plenty of kilometres run.
For Julian, the run was not just a competition, but also his first official start under the name of athleteXhub. He was supported by co-founder Jasper, who accompanied him with the camera throughout the weekend and captured many special moments.
Even before the start, it was clear that this Backyard Ultra would not be an ordinary race. Due to the high temperatures, the organisers decided to postpone the start from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. As a result, the first part of the race took place at night - a special atmosphere that fit perfectly with this exceptional format.
Julian completed a total of 12 rounds, covering over 80 kilometres. After the leading group cracked the 100-kilometre mark, the organisers and participants jointly decided to end the race prematurely due to the ongoing heat. A decision that shows what matters most in endurance sports: health and responsibility always come before a result.

A big thank you goes to the organisation team, all the helpers, and the numerous athletes who made this weekend a special experience. We're already looking forward to the next time.
